Goðafoss Waterfall, Iceland
The Goðafoss waterfall in northern Iceland is 39 feet wide and plunges 98 feet. The name translates to "waterfall of the gods” from a legend that tells of a local chieftain who threw statues of Nordic gods into the water after Iceland converted to Christianity. A scenic hiking trail loops around the waterfall area for nearly 2 miles.
