Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs) are celestial bodies composed mainly of rock and ice. They orbit the Sun at a greater distance than Neptune does. Pluto, a dwarf planet, is the largest and best-known TNO. In this illustration, the Sun is shown as a distant star over 3 billion miles away.
