The Southern Pinwheel Galaxy, also known as Messier 83 (M83), is a spiral galaxy located about 15 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Hydra. The most vibrant blue colors are areas with the most intense star formation. This galaxy is forming stars more rapidly than the Milky Way.
