This theatrical poster, subtitled “A Fair Prisoner,” was created by artist Bronson Howard (1842-1908) to advertise the play, “The Greater Shenandoah.” Billed as a military comedy (but fairly serious), the play dramatizes the Civil War and a number of love stories therein. This color lithograph was published ca. 1894 by the Strobridge Litho. Co. (Call # POS - TH - 1894 .S48, no. 1).
