This promotional circus poster shows the antics of five clowns with a wheelbarrow at a circus. One is inside the wheelbarrow while another pushes. This kind of act was a common sight in circuses, coming out of a longtime tradition of vaudeville, pantomime, and slapstick humor. The act always ended in some sort of mishap, with at least one clown on the floor! This lithograph was published ca. 1890 by Calvert Litho. Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-54753).
