This promotional theater poster announced the performance of stage actor Thomas W. Keene (1840–1898) in the role of Othello in Shakespeare’s tragedy of the same name. Keene was a well-known American stage actor and specialized in playing tragic roles. For eight seasons, from 1880 to 1888, he toured and performed in Shakespeare's plays. This color lithograph was printed in 1884 by W. J. Morgan & Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-33411).
