The Great Wallace Shows
This promotional circus poster shows the famous Stirk Family, “World’s Greatest Bicyclists,” performing acrobatics on bicycles for The Great Wallace Shows. Founded in 1883 by Benjamin E. Wallace and James Anderson, this popular American circus was a major competitor of the Ringling Brothers and featured popular circus acts such as animal performances, acrobatics, and clowns. This color lithograph was printed ca. 1898 by Courier Litho. Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-55016).
