This photo shows the Owosso, Michigan, West-side indoor baseball team in uniform. They won the 1905-1906 world championship. Reporter George Hancock invented indoor baseball in 1887. A year later, the game was played outdoors. Originally called mushball, kittenball, or indoor baseball, it became known as softball by the 1920s. The photograph was published ca. 1906.
