This photograph shows an Old Judge baseball card portrait of Elton P. “Ice Box” Chamberlain (1867-1929) who played for the St. Louis Browns. He got his nickname from his calm demeanor under pressure. In 1888, he was the main pitcher for the St. Louis Browns, who won the American Association pennant. The photograph was published ca. 1888.
