This photograph shows baseball player Michael J. “King” Kelly (1857-1894) posing with a bat in his Boston Beaneater baseball uniform. Kelly is said to have created the hit-and-run and the double steal. He was also one of the first players to use a baseball glove. The photograph was published ca. 1888 by George H. Hastings.
