This photograph shows Derrell Burnham “Del” Pratt (1888-1977), a St. Louis Browns baseball player, poised to catch the ball. During his career with the American League, Pratt also played for the NY Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, and the Detroit Tigers. Pratt was considered one of the top second basemen of this era. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1972. The photograph was published in 1913.
