Asian Acrobats
This print features 12 Asian acrobats performing circus acts. At the time, Asian acrobats, particularly from Japan and China, had become a popular and highly anticipated part of circuses and variety shows across Europe and the United States. Asian acrobatic acts were known for complicated moves of balance and agility used traditional props and elaborate costumes from their countries. This chromolithograph was published ca. 1891 by the Calvert Lithograph Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-54762).
