This promotional poster shows “The Rival Riders,” William Shoutes and William DeMott, performing in The Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth. William Shoutes and William DeMott, billed as “The World’s Most Famous Equestrians in Daily Contest for Supremacy,” were skilled horsemen who performed acts on and off horses during circus performances. This chromolithograph was published ca. 1895 by the Calvert Lithograph Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-54805).
