This promotional theatrical poster, titled “The Barnum and Bailey Greatest Show on Earth,” shows a naval battle and calls it the “Total Destruction of the Spanish Fleet on the Cuban Coast.” The real event occurred on July 3, 1898, during the Battle of Santiago de Cuba. The poster was used for advertising and may not be historically accurate. This chromolithograph was published in 1898 (LC-DIG-ppmsca-54823).
