This poster was titled in the language of its time, “Heroes of the Colored Race.” It features head-and-shoulders portraits of Blanche Kelso Bruce, Frederick Douglass, and Hiram Rhoades Revels. The portraits are surrounded by scenes of African American Life and other portraits. This chromolithograph was published ca. 1882 by J. Hoover (LC-DIG-pga-01619).
