This promotional circus poster announced the coming of P.T. Barnum’s circus, combined with the Great London Circus and Sanger’s Royal British menagerie to form the “Greatest Show on Earth.” The poster shows William H. Batcheller, the show’s “champion leaper,” jumping through a hoop over an elephant. The bottom right cameo is also of Batcheller. This color lithograph was printed ca. 1879 by the Strobridge Litho. Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-64994).
