Her Court of Beauty
This promotional poster shows a parade float with women on top holding an American flag, uniformed soldiers all around the float and on horseback, and a portrait of George Washington on the side. The poster reads, “Columbia represented by the four handsomest women in America and the guards of honor.” At the time, “Columbia” was a national symbol. This color lithograph was printed ca. 1882 by Strobridge Co. (LC-DIG-ppmsca-55046).
