Caracal on Alert
The caracal is a smaller (about 40 pounds) wildcat known for its black, tufted ears and exceptional hunting abilities. They are found across the Middle East, Africa, and southern Asia. These carnivores eat birds, rodents, rabbits, and even gazelles. They are solitary animals, although mothers will be seen cuddling their young until they are about a year old.
NOTE: Some images are valuable historical records. To preserve their original condition, we have presented them as captured; their resolution may not be optimal for modern displays.
