White-Throated Magpie-Jay, Sitting Pretty
This large Central American bird is found in open woodlands, arid scrub forests, and other semi-open wooded areas on the Pacific slope from Jalisco, Mexico, down to Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It is easily distinguished by the black ring around its white neck. These omnivorous birds eat insects, small vertebrates, seeds, berries, and fruits.
