These medium-sized birds of prey are found in wooded area, mangroves, gardens and parks from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh to southern China and Southeast Asia. They mostly eat snakes but also lizards and small animals. They catch snakes by sitting and waiting, then dropping almost straight down to capture them with powerful talons.
