Male Diana Fritillary Butterfly
Male fritillary butterflies are smaller than the females and have dark brown or black wings with wide orange borders and markings, while the females are mostly black with iridescent blue and white marking. This uncommon kind of butterfly can be found in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas, and the southern Appalachians.
