This oil-on-canvas painting was created ca. 1897 by American painter and printmaker Thomas Moran (1837-1926). Moran famously created two paintings of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone (Wyoming), the first of which helped in the creation of Yellowstone National Park in 1872. (Smithsonian)
