This portrayal of “American Scenery” shows a busy autumn scene outside a rural inn. In the lower right, a cart is hauling a load of slaughtered pigs, common in the countryside at this time. A Conestoga wagon is parked in front of the inn. This color lithograph was published ca. 1872 by E. Sachse & Co. (LC-DIG-pga-03254).
