This painting was created by American artist J. L. G. Ferris (1863-1930). He made history with 78 paintings of scenes from American history, the largest series of paintings—titled “The Pageant of a Nation”—by a single artist. This color lithograph shows Betsy Ross showing off her finest creation. It was published ca. 1910 by Detroit Publishing Co. (LC-DIG-det-4a26653).
