The Reception of Lafayette at Mount Vernon
This painting was subtitled “Home of Washington.” The scene, set on the porch of Mount Vernon, shows George Washington welcoming the Marquis de Lafayette to his home as a stableboy minds his horse. His wife Martha Washington and others are part of the group. This chromolithograph was published in 1875 by Bencke & Scott (LC-DIG-pga-00184).
