This painting shows the charge of Union troops led by Major Gen. Philip Sheridan against Confederate troops led by Major Gen. George Pickett. The Battle of Five Forks, Virginia, took place on April 1, 1865, and was a key engagement of the Appomattox Campaign. This color lithograph was published ca. 1887 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01848).
