This painting shows a scene from the Battle of Lookout Mountain. It was fought during the Chattanooga (Tennessee) Campaign of the Civil War on November 24, 1863. Union forces, led by Major Gen. Joseph Hooker, defeated Confederate troops under Major Gen. Carter L. Stevenson. This color lithograph was published ca. 1889 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01853).
