This painting shows the Battle of Wilson’s Creek, also known as the Battle of Oak Hills, which took place on August 10, 1861, near Springfield, Missouri. Although casualties were heavy on both sides, the conflict was considered a Confederate victory. This color lithograph was published ca. 1893 by Kurz & Allison (LC-DIG-pga-01861).
