This oil-on canvas was created in 1835 by American artist George Catlin (1796-1872). When describing the wife of Kee-o-kúk, Caitlin wrote, “This woman was the favorite one, (I think) of seven whom he had living, (apparently quite comfortably and peaceably), in his wigwam.” The portrait was painted in a Sac and Fox village.
