Still Life with Flowers, 1723
This oil-on-canvas painting was created in 1723 by Dutch Golden Age painter Jan van Huysum (1682-1749). He was considered the best painter of floral still lifes. Because of the kind of light on the railing, the flower arrangement appears to have been placed outside. Note the statue of Flora, the goddess of flowers, in the background. (Rijksmuseum)
