This watercolor-and-pencil painting was created on paper in 1880 by American painter and educator Ross Turner (1847-1915). Known for his impressionist style, he painted this delicate watercolor to show a bustling old European street scene with shop lights reflecting on the rain-covered pavement. (Smithsonian)
