This painting was created with watercolors and black chalk by Dutch artist Jacob Maris (1837-1899) in 1878. It shows a young girl in a white dress, sitting on grass and holding a bouquet of wildflowers one imagines she has just picked. It is thought that one of Maris’s daughters modeled for this scene.
