This oil-on-canvas painting was created in 1888 by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). This drawbridge was on a canal near Arles, a city in southern France. It so reminded him of his Dutch homeland that he painted it five times! (Smithsonian)
