The title translates to “The Actor Bandō Minosuke in the Role of Rikiya.” This woodblock print shows the actor Bandō Minosuke playing the role of the young samurai Rikiya from the drama, Chushingura (The Treasury of Loyal Retainers). The woodcut was created (with color) ca. 1805 by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Toyokuni Utagawa (1769-1825). (Library of Congress, LC-DIG-jpd-02254)
