This large spiral galaxy, otherwise known as Messier 74 (M74), was discovered by Charles Messier’s assistant in 1780. It can be found in the equatorial constellation of Pisces and is about 32 million light-years away from Earth. Note the symmetrical spiral arms, reaching out from the galaxy’s center and traced by curved dust lanes. (Hubble Space Telescope)
