This historic mansion was the home of John Minor Botts (1802-1869), a well-known politician and lawyer. The Culpeper, Virginia home was photographed during the Civil War with Botts’ family on the porch. A determined opponent of secession, Botts was arrested here on March 2, 1862, and imprisoned for several weeks.
