Maj. Gen. A. E. Burnside (Union)
Ambrose Everett Burnside (1824-1881) served under Gen. McClellan at the battles of South Mountain and at Antietam, where he commanded McClellan's left wing. He succeeded McClellan as commander of the Army of the Potomac and served with Grant in the Virginia campaign of 1864.
