The uniformed man in this studio portrait was Captain C. G. Dyer of the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry Regiment. Capt. Dyer was a Union officer during the American Civil War. The 2nd Rhode Island Infantry Regiment was known for wearing distinctive uniforms including a pleated blouse, gauntlets, and a tall hat. Photographed ca. 1865 by Mathew Brady or staff.
