At the time of this photograph the “107th Colored Infantry” unit was stationed at Fort Corcoran, Arlington, Va., part of the defenses of Washington. This photograph, taken in November of 1865, shows a group of twenty African American soldiers with musical instruments typical of an infantry unit band of the day.
