Gen. Richard Lee Tuberville Beale (1819-1893) entered the war as 1st Lt. in Lee's Light Horse. Beale eventually commanded a brigade in W. H. F. Lee's Division. He tendered his resignation three times in 1862-63 because he didn't like regular duty.
