This man is thought to be Sioux, probably from Northwestern Nebraska. This is a posed shot. Full-sized eagles were not caught by hand, but in baited pits. Eagle feathers had special ceremonial significance to the Plains tribes. Photographed by Edward S. Curtis in 1907.
